Dental bleaching can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, brilliant smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.

What are the details? It takes two visits to set up your whitening treatments. On your first visit, an impression is taken to make a specialized tray to hold the bleach against your teeth. In only a day or two your custom bleach trays will be ready for you to pick up.

At your second visit, you’ll receive custom-fitted trays, homecare instructions, and special whitening agents that you put into the trays. With only a few hours of wear per day or at night while sleeping, or shorter times over a longer period for sensitive teeth, our special bleaching agent removes stains right out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way. At the end of this time period, significant whitening will occur. In some cases, the change is nothing short of brilliant.

We monitor your progress with follow-up visits to check the effectiveness of the whitening agent and to be sure your gums are not being affected. When your teeth reach the desired brightness, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We may want to take “after” photos at your next appointment!

Over-the-counter (OTC) bleaching agents can cause harm to the gums and teeth. We do not recommend these products or “whitening” toothpastes for any extended period of time. It’s better to use professional products that our practice recommends.
